Most of our customers in a given week are visiting from somewhere else, and the sharpest of them all ask a version of the same question: this is legal in Florida, but what happens when I take it to Georgia, or Texas, or the UK? It deserves a real answer rather than a shrug, so here's the framework — with the honest caveat that fifty states means fifty rulebooks, and we can't recite them all.

The federal floor and the state patchwork

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp — cannabis at or under 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight — federally, and explicitly allowed interstate transport of lawful hemp. That's the floor. But states are free to regulate hemp products more strictly within their own borders, and many do: some ban smokable hemp flower specifically, some restrict particular cannabinoids, some cap total THC differently, and the rules change session by session.

So the truthful summary is: the product that was legal on our shelf doesn't carry a nationwide permission slip. It carries a federal definition plus whatever your destination state layers on top.

How to actually check

Search your home state's department of agriculture or health department pages for 'hemp' and the product type you're carrying — official pages, not vape-forum threads. The product's COA is your companion document: it's the lab evidence the product meets the federal hemp definition, and having it with the product (Florida requires that QR code on the label for a reason) answers the first question anyone official would ask.

International travel is a different game entirely: many countries treat any cannabis product, hemp-derived or not, as fully controlled. The advice we give flying international visitors is simple and unsatisfying — enjoy it in Florida and don't take it through an international border.

The two-minute version: keep it in original labeled packaging, keep the COA accessible via the label's QR code, check your own state's official pages, and never carry it across an international border.
