Thickness sounds like a clean comparison because it can be written as one number. The trouble starts when that number is stretched into claims about the whole piece.
A stated wall measurement may help compare documented specifications. It cannot, by itself, verify the glass composition, consistency at every point, annealing, joint workmanship, or performance in a drop or impact.
What a thickness statement actually says
A thickness specification describes a measured or nominal dimension at whatever location and tolerance the maker defines. Curves, transitions, bases, joints, and handmade areas may not share one uniform wall dimension.
